Primark launches £2.50 K-beauty ‘glass skin’ range for fans of Beauty of Joseon and Biodance

With Korean beauty trends such as super-dewy ‘glass skin’ currently trending, Primark has just brought out its own range of lightweight, radiance-boosting skincare products

One of the biggest trends in skincare over the last few years has been the influence of Korean beauty, or K-beauty, into mainstream shopping habits, usually referring to lightweight, moisturising formulas designed to be layered up to deliver healthy, hydrated, ‘glass-like’ skin. Once quite a niche beauty find, top K-beauty brands are now widely available in high street stores such as Boots and Superdrug – and now Primark, too.

The bargain retailer’s PS… beauty brand has just dropped a new Glass Skin range of skincare, made in Korea and inspired by other K-beauty products that are proving super popular, such as a rice toner and an overnight sheet mask. Available now in stores (sadly we still can’t shop Primark online), prices start from just £2.50, with nothing costing more than £5.

Perhaps one of the highlights from the range is the Glass Skin Rice Toner, £4.50; milky toners or essences are a common feature in Korean skincare routines, and are an excellent way to add another layer of hydration to your skin without any heaviness. This Primark one is reminiscent of Beauty of Joseon’s popular Glow Replenishing Rice Milk, currently £12.40 from Lookfantastic, which our shopping writer Grace says has her receiving compliments on her skin whenever she uses it.

Another product that might sound familiar is the Primark PS… Glass Skin Collagen Mask, £5, which, unlike ‘normal’ sheet masks, is designed to be worn for at least three hours, or overnight. This is similar to the viral Biodance Bio-Collagen Real Deep Mask, currently £12 for a pack of four from Amazon, which leaves skin looking plump and glowy come the morning.

Other products in this new Primark line-up include a serum, gel moisturiser, overnight peel mask and gel toner pads, all with very light, non-greasy formulas containing skin-boosting ingredients such as cica, niacinamide and squalane. Although you’re probably not going to get the quality of well-known K-beauty brands such as Beauty of Joseon, Anua or Tirtir, this new Primark range could be a fun way to try the trend without breaking the bank.

Another Korean skincare product currently proving super popular over here – both with celebrities and our own beauty editor – is Aestura Atobarrier365 Cream. Regularly praised by the likes of Olivia Attwood and Zara McDermott, our beauty editor Laura says, “my skin absolutely loved it this – it felt brighter, fresher and more comfortable, and significantly healthier.

I couldn’t wait to use this every morning and evening (I even reached for it over a moisturiser four times the price), and got through the tube pretty quickly – a rarity as a beauty editor with a cupboard full of creams. If I needed a new moisturiser, I wouldn’t hesitate to use this Aestura one again.”
